LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Las Vegas Aces were on the road Monday afternoon in Indianapolis for game two of the first-round playoff series against the Indiana Fever.
The Aces were coming off a dominant game one performance, looking to close out the best-of-three series in two games. Indiana had other plans.
Fever even the series
The two teams went pound for pound each quarter. Jackie Young led the Aces with 31 points, but the Fever’s top three players each finished with more than 20 points, even after the team’s star player, Caitlin Clark, fouled out late in the fourth quarter.
The Fever took game two with a final score of 99-89, forcing a do-or-die game three.
Head coach Becky Hammon was asked how her offense played.
“Not great. I thought there was a lot of congestion. I thought them picking up being disruptive got us out of our flow a little bit. At times, your offense has to help your defense; I thought defensively we were poor. The two are married together. We know when we are a good defensive team — we become very elite offensively; I didn’t think we were a good defensive team tonight. In any area, not in post D, not in guard play, we were not good defensively tonight,” Hammon said.

Fan interaction with Wilson
During the fourth quarter, a moment between a Fever fan and A’ja Wilson got heated. Wilson did not hold back after what was said to her from that fan, a reaction not previously seen from the four-time MVP.
Hammon responded to the incident after the game.
“I didn’t exactly see what happened; I kind of saw the aftermath. I have never seen A’ja Wilson go like that, so whatever was done, I can tell you she felt very disrespected in that moment. I can just speak to her as a person; I have never seen her react like that, ever, so whatever it was, it does not have any place, I don’t think, in an arena,” Hammon said.
Series heads home
The series now heads back to Las Vegas. Game three between the Aces and the Fever is set for Thursday night at Michelob Ultra Arena.
