LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Henderson police are investigating after a 12-year-old child reportedly shot and killed a 14-year-old sibling on Thursday night.

According to a police report, officers responded to the 1000 block of Capital Gains Drive at approximately 7:15 p.m. on January 25 in reference to a shooting. While on their way to the scene, officers were advised that a 14-year-old victim was taken by family to a nearby hospital. The victim was later pronounced dead.

Detectives preliminary determined that the victim’s 12-year-old brother shot the victim. The 12-year-old was taken into custody and booked into Clark County Juvenile Hall (CCJH) on one count of open murder.

The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office after next of kin notifications This is being investigated as the first homicide for the City of Henderson for 2024.
