LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A former Las Vegas city councilwoman found guilty of wire fraud has been denied a new trial.

Michelle Fiore is also Pahrump’s former justice of the peace. A jury found her guilty for six counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

She could face up to 140 years in prison when sentenced May 14.

Court documents filed says there was insufficient evidence to convict her. A judge denied these claims and denied her motion for a new trial.

Fiore collected money to build a police officers’ memorial, but that never happened. The jury found her guilty for keeping the donations.
