LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Catholic Charities marked its 85th anniversary by serving a community meal at the St. Vincent Lied Dining Facility.
Staff and volunteers served chicken cordon bleu, potatoes, vegetables and dessert to community members who packed the facility.
Catholic Charities has been feeding Las Vegas for 60 of its 85 years.
The organization now serves thousands of people every day and relies on volunteers year-round to make those meals happen.
“There is always a need for volunteers. 365 days a year, we provide service to over 4,000 individuals right here in the Las Vegas Valley. We couldn’t do it without our volunteers,” said Sara Ramirez, president and CEO of Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada.
The event also wrapped up the organization’s “Feed Vegas” campaign, a month-long push during National Volunteer Month to raise donations for food programs and recruit more help to fight food insecurity.
