LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Las Vegas City Council will recognize a local teacher and a group of school volunteers at its Aug. 5 meeting.
The meeting begins at 9 a.m. in Council Chambers on the second floor of Las Vegas City Hall.
Ward 2 Councilwoman Kara Kelley will recognize Kris Pohl as the August 2026 Citizen of the Month. Pohl teaches social studies at Del Sol High School.

Ward 6 Councilwoman Nancy Brune will recognize Dads in Schools, a group of volunteers who work to create safer, more supportive school environments for students. Trained volunteers serve on campuses during times when additional supervision and encouragement are needed, working alongside school administrators and staff.
The meeting will be broadcast live on City of Las Vegas TV and on the City of Las Vegas TV YouTube channel.
