LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Monday night’s World Cup matchup between the United States and Belgium was a big one — and fans in the Las Vegas valley showed up in force to watch it unfold.
Supporters gathered in the Southwest at The George at Durango Casino, where the atmosphere stayed electric throughout the match, even as the final score wasn’t the result fans were hoping for.
The U.S. entered the game with plenty of momentum after defeating Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday. Many fans told FOX5 that the run — and the fight they saw against Belgium — showed just how much Team USA has grown.

During the watch party, nerves rose as Belgium scored to take a 1-0 lead, putting fans on edge.
“I’m nervous — I’m very nervous,” said TJ Milk, a Team USA fan. “It’s the first time I think they’ve lost a lead, so I’m nervous, but we’ll see.”
When the match ended, Team USA’s World Cup run came to an end, with Belgium advancing. Still, fans FOX5 spoke with following the heartbreaking loss said they couldn’t be prouder of what the team accomplished — and they’re already looking ahead.
Fans added they’ll continue supporting Team USA as the program turns its focus to the next World Cup.
