LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — As students prepare to head back to class, Southern Nevada schools are rolling out a first-of-its-kind, valley-wide traffic safety push funded by a major donation from the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Clark County leaders announced Thursday that a new $100,000 grant from the Grand Prix will establish a single, unified safety messaging system for every Clark County School District (CCSD) and charter school family.
The campaign will distribute unified printed materials to classrooms, including school-zone safety tip sheets, updated rules under new Nevada laws, electronic device guidance, and parking warning cards.

The goal is to provide clear, easy-to-understand directions for families, teachers, and administrators across different local municipalities.
“For the first time ever, every student in a public school here in Southern Nevada will have access to the same high-quality information… regardless of jurisdiction, regardless of charter or CCSD school,” Clark County Commission Chairman Michael Naft said.
In addition to the educational campaign, local officials are stationing crossing guards at all elementary and middle schools valley-wide, as well as five local high schools.
The unified safety push comes as local authorities issue a plea to drivers to remain vigilant, citing data that 427 children were involved in traffic crashes in Southern Nevada last year.
