LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A Las Vegas Valley mom is being recognized for her efforts to protect students and improve safety at crosswalks citywide.
Krista Holloway founded Walk Safely LV. Wednesday, she was honored by the City of Las Vegas for her mission.
“And I just want to say, McKenzie Scott, I know you’re up there, and we will forever think of you,” Holloway said. “And along with Christopher and Haylee, this is for you. And thank you. And we won’t stop. We’re going to keep doing this, and we’re going to keep fighting for the safety of our kids.”
City officials recognized Holloway for her dedication, presenting her and her team with a community hero award.
McKenzie Scott was killed while crossing a nearby street from Arbor View High School May 2. The suspect, Keenan Jackson, pleaded guilty.
Christopher Suarez and Haylee Ryan were also killed in crashes. Suarez took a step off a curb when a white SUV hit him in a suspected DUI crash at Eastern and Owens avenues.
