LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – ONLY ON FOX5: If you have been on the search for a new gadget or equipment, chances are you might have put off buying it at full price.
However, as FOX5 discovered it is possible to get what you are looking for without paying the full amount for it.
“We have a little bit of everything,” James Orlando, owner of Mobius Auctions, said.
Various new items such as washing machines, ice makers and even unopened box of Huggies are all stacked up in the warehouse of Mobius Auction near Pecos and Patrick.
Co-owner Sandro Zegarra showed FOX5 one of their aisles where they have smaller items such as iPhones, and headphones.
Walking through the warehouse, you couldn’t help but feel as if the saying “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure,” was screaming at you, but in this particular case these items were nowhere near the trash.
“They are returns or shelf pulls,” Orlando said.
Owers Orlando and Zegarra buy pallets of new items from big box stores that are returned but not able to be re-sold again.
“It is not always because something is bad or broken, it is because people change their minds,” Orlando said.
Meanwhile, if these items are on your mind, you can find them being auctioned off on their website Mobius Actions with bids starting at $5.
Zegarra showed FOX5, an example of how the users benefit from their services.
They showed us a steam closet which is generally sold at $1300, however, a buyer was able to get it for $200.
The partners tell FOX5 they started their business from their living room during the pandemic, and soon realized they could make a living out of it.
“Once we started selling at a consistent rate, we saw that it was something that we could grow,” Zeggara said.
Now they are helping others like George Chavez, who left his corporate job to buy from auction houses and re-sell full time.
“My garage doesn’t hold cars, it looks like this,” Chavez said.
Chavez even remodeled his bathroom based on what he found.
“I have saved thousands I haven’t done the remodel, but I got everything for the remodel, I got two new vanities from auction houses,” Chavez said.
Zaggara and Orlando emphasized that the items are thoroughly checked and vetted by their team to make sure they work and are in proper condition.
If there is a ding or a scratch, they also make that known in on the auction list.
They also say their inventory triples after the holidays with all those returns.
