LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority board of directors approved a deal to promote international travel from Australia as the city continues to deal with slumping tourism, especially from international guests.
The $1.45 million agreement with GTI Tourism will last one year, with the option to extend for two more.
Among other things, it will promote the launch of Qantas Airlines’ new nonstop flight from Sydney to Las Vegas, scheduled to start on Dec. 29 of this year.

Australia is a critical market for Vegas tourism, historically ranked as the second overseas market for international visitors, second only to Canada.
The LVCVA said Tuesday that 275,000 Australians visited Las Vegas in 2025, generating an estimated $442 million in economic impact.
The new deal will also support the sports connection between Australia and Las Vegas, including the National Rugby League games at Allegiant Stadium next year and the F1 Australia Grand Prix.
