LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — On Tuesday, the Golden Knights held their annual golf classic at TPC Summerlin, a chance to raise money for the VGK organization and the first team outing of the season.
Bowman looking to cement his role with the Golden Knights
A year ago, Braeden Bowman was getting ready for a season in Henderson before getting called up. He is now looking to cement his role with the big club.
“That’s my goal. Become a full-time player with the Knights, and I’m excited. I think, you know, the team’s looking really good again. Obviously, Vegas always has a strong team. So, I’m just trying to establish my identity on the team, and we’ll see how it goes,” Bowman said.
“At the start, I was just kind of going and seeing what happens. I mean, the start, obviously, was pretty cool to get out and play my first game and stuff like that. I think as it went on, I got a lot more comfortable at the NHL level, and it just kind of blossomed from there, I guess. I was able to get myself in the lineup as many times as possible, and I thought I learned a lot from that and hopefully, I can take it building into this year,” Bowman said.

Bowman’s familiarity with new Golden Knights head coach Ryan Craig, who served as the Silver Knights bench boss the last three seasons, is one aspect of camp that should help him.
“Yeah, I’m really excited. He’s a great coach. He’s a great person, too. You can talk to him away from the ice and honest, fair, everything you want in a coach. So I’m super excited,” Bowman said.
Defenseman agreed to deal on opening day of free agency, carrying $8.5 million average annual value
The Golden Knights and defenseman Rasmus Andersson agreed on a seven-year contract extension carrying an average annual value of $8.5 million on the opening day of free agency.
Andersson, 29, put up 17 points in 33 games since being acquired from Calgary last season.
“No, really excited. Ever since I got traded here, I’ve loved it. Couldn’t be happier, and we really fell in love with the city as well. Super excited and can’t wait what the future holds,” Andersson said.
“Yeah, it feels nice to not having, you know, that hanging over you, but, you know, as I said, I just couldn’t be more excited that I’m here, obviously, and it feels nice to be back, and it feels like it’s nice to have that in the past and just look forward to the future, really,” Andersson said.
Andersson is now part of a blueline that will be together for the next few years.
“We lost in the finals last year. You know, we would love to get back. And I think the blue line is real deep and especially with Parker coming in too. I played with his brother for a few years. We’re deep partners and roommates and stuff like that. So, you know, it feels like I kind of know him already a little bit because of his brother, and he seems like a great guy, and I met him now for the last few days. So, excited, you know, to get to know him better,” Andersson said.
What’s next
Rookie camp starts Friday at City National Arena, and training camp begins next week. The Golden Knights’ first preseason game is September 19th against LA.
