LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Las Vegas police have arrested a 73-year-old man in connection with an ongoing series of political campaign sign vandalisms across the valley.
David Smith was arrested on Monday, Aug. 24, and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of defacing property valued at $5,000 or more, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The investigation began Aug. 3, after detectives received reports of campaign signs being defaced with spray-painted swastikas.

Detectives utilized automated license plate reader technology to identify and locate Smith as the suspect, police said.
The investigation into the vandalism of other political signs across the Las Vegas Valley remains ongoing.
