LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A man is dead after crashing into a light pole in Summerlin on Thursday night.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the crash occurred at 9:03 p.m. on Desert Foothills Drive, east of Sagemont Drive. It was determined that a gold 1995 Buick LeSabre was traveling west on Desert Foothills, repeatedly striking inside the raised curbing of the center median.
The Buick traveled onto the landscaped center median and struck a light pole, according to police.
Responding medical crews pronounced the driver, a man believed to be in his 30s, dead at the scene.
“The driver’s death marks the 51st traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for the year 2024,” LVMPD noted in a release. “The collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section.”
