LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Boulder City couple accused of hoarding nearly 200 animals pleaded no contest to misdemeanor animal abuse charges on Thursday.

According to court transcripts, a judge sentenced 79-year-old Timothy Miller and 73-year-old Carolyn Luke to 6 months in jail on each count. The duo was initially facing 51 counts of animal abuse each, though a judge dismissed 46 during Thursday’s hearing.

Both will also be fined $305 on each count.

A judge ordered that both defendants cannot own any animals while the case is pending and that all animals seized by authorities are now forfeit. The defendants are also required to complete 12 sessions of hoarding counseling, which will be completed after their sentences, and 48 hours of community service.

Luke and Miller will remain in custody until their next hearing.

Both are due back in court for a status check on Tuesday, April 23 at 3:30 p.m. A judge is also expected to decide whether the sentences will be served concurrently or consecutively.
