LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Gov. Joe Lombardo has proclaimed June 2026 as Agricultural Heritage Month in Nevada, recognizing the state’s farmers, ranchers and agricultural workers and highlighting agriculture as a $6.5 billion industry.

The proclamation comes as Nevada prepares for the return of the State Fair of Nevada, scheduled for June 11–13 at the Nevada State Fairgrounds in Reno. The fair is returning after a 16-year hiatus.

The comeback follows passage of Assembly Bill 333, which Lombardo signed into law last year and which restored the fairgrounds to the Nevada Department of Agriculture.

“Agriculture remains a cornerstone of Nevada’s economy and identity,” Lombardo said in a statement. He said the month is an opportunity to recognize producers who “feed our communities, support rural economies, and preserve a way of life that has defined Nevada for generations.”

Nevada Department of Agriculture Director J.J. Goicoechea called the fair’s return a chance to celebrate the people and traditions that help define the state.

“Agriculture is woven into the fabric of our state, and this month gives us a chance to honor our producers while helping a new generation better understand where their food comes from,” Goicoechea said.

Lombardo encouraged Nevadans to support local producers, attend the state fair and learn more about Nevada’s agricultural traditions.
