LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — NV Energy has issued a Public Safety Outage Management (PSOM) watch for customers in the Angel Peak and Kyle Canyon PSOM zones due to elevated fire weather conditions forecasted for Mt. Charleston.
If NV Energy needs to de-energize equipment, the company said outages would begin at approximately 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, and last until approximately 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 28.

A PSOM watch means certain conditions — including high winds, low humidity and high temperatures — may require NV Energy to proactively shut off power to help ensure community safety and prevent potential wildfire ignition, according to the advisory.
NV Energy said the timeframe includes the duration of the weather event and the time needed for crews to inspect lines and other equipment for damage, vegetation or debris before restoring power.
The company said factors that can contribute to a PSOM event include weather conditions, vegetation levels, field observations and guidance from local fire departments and other first responders.
NV Energy said impacted customers will be notified by phone, text and email messages. The utility said it will also reach out to Green Cross customers in the area to offer accommodation if a PSOM event is initiated.
NV Energy said it will continue monitoring conditions and provide updates to impacted customers. The company said a PSOM watch may be canceled if weather conditions improve.
