LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Foundation honored Officer Grant Okinawa with a Good Ticket Award during a presentation at Resorts World.
Okinawa helped lead the department’s “Pack the Mack” back-to-school event, which ended with 15,000 backpacks filled with supplies going home with local kids.
Metro said Okinawa is also a key member of the Office of Community Engagement’s Asian American Pacific Islander Alliance, working to build relationships between the department and the valley AAPI community.
Community projects
Projects Okinawa has worked on include a food distribution event in 2024, and a fall turkey giveaway and trick-or-treat events for the AAPI community in 2025.
As a thank-you for his work, Resorts World gave Okinawa a staycation package, including a hotel stay, food and drink credits, and entertainment tickets.
