LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A 41-year-old pedestrian was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries early Sunday morning after being struck by a vehicle on South Nellis Boulevard, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:28 a.m. along South Nellis Boulevard, south of Patterson Avenue.
Investigators said a 2003 BMW 325i was traveling northbound on Nellis Boulevard approaching Patterson Avenue when a pedestrian crossed into the path of the vehicle outside of a marked or implied crosswalk.
The front of the car struck the pedestrian, throwing him onto the roadway. The driver, identified by police as 29-year-old Reydin Dennis of Las Vegas, immediately stopped at the scene and called authorities.
Emergency medical crews transported the injured man to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where medical staff determined his injuries were life-threatening. The pedestrian’s identity is being withheld pending family notification.
Dennis was not injured, remained at the scene and displayed no signs of impairment, investigators said.
The crash remains under investigation by LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section.
