LVMPD said evidence at the scene, video surveillance, and a witness statement indicate the pedestrian was running southbound across East Flamingo Road west of the intersection and was not in a marked or implied crosswalk. Police said the pedestrian ran in front of an RTC bus that was stopped facing westbound at a bus stop along the north curb west of the intersection.

The pedestrian then ran into the path of a 2009 Hyundai Sonata traveling westbound on East Flamingo Road. The front of the Hyundai struck the pedestrian on her left side, and she was thrown onto the roadway. LVMPD said the driver immediately brought the vehicle to a controlled stop west of the bus.

The driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, police said.

The collision remains under investigation.
