LAS VEGAS (FOX5) —Primm is preparing for a busy Labor Day weekend as travelers stop by while heading in and out of Las Vegas.

Long-time operators pulled out of Primm this summer putting businesses there in jeopardy. FOX5 returned to Primm Friday to see how things are going, with most businesses open for the first major holiday under new management.

Visitors return for the holiday

Many visitors started their Labor Day holiday Friday in Primm. One gambler at Primm Valley Resort and Casino said the destination has become a regular stop.

“This is like our second home. We’ve been coming for years. At least once a month, we drive out here,” said Ruth Arriaga. “We know everybody, all the waitresses, the guys at the bartender, the host here.”

Another visitor said he also visits Primm regularly.

“We come down to play the lottery. And so, yeah, we’d stop here when it was open. Happy to see it open again,” said Leslie Williams. “It definitely breaks up the monotony of the ride. There used to be nice restaurants where we could get something to eat. So, we enjoyed the stop.”

New ownership moved quickly

After the long-time managers pulled out, the Primm family got together with Terrible’s to quickly figure things out and keep businesses going.

Corey Clementson, President of the Primm South Real Estate Co. told FOX News Digital that private equity companies, in general, have taken away what’s made Vegas great, citing things like parking fees and resort fees.

“Your overall ability to have a much more affordable vacation and have a great experience feels like it costs you three or four times that today,” he said. “And that’s certainly, Primm is trying to reposition that and get back to attracting people not only in the state of Nevada, but when people travel through from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, that they’ll stop at Primm and give them a chance over the long haul. And provide a great experience and maybe a better overall vacation for them at a more affordable price.”

Terrible’s officials told FOX5 on Friday they’re continuing to experience a steady increase in customers at Primm Valley Resort from both California and Southern Nevada patrons.

“In August, we successfully reopened the hotel pool and Pete’s Steakhouse, which have elevated our customer experience, as well as the overwhelming positive feedback we have been receiving,” said Bryan Breeden, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer with Terrible’s.

He added,

“On September 1st we launched our first gaming promotion at PVR ($100K Fall Into Free Play). Again, the response from our customers has been amazingly positive!”

Breeden also said they’re finalizing plans to open a larger allocation of rooms at the resort and announcing a “Primm Valley Event Series.”

What’s next for Primm

While most businesses remain open, there is still no word on what will happen to Whiskey Pete’s and Buffalo Bill’s Resort and Casino.

Officials also said they want to bring back concerts.
