LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Quail Springs Fire had burned approximately 13,619 acres and was 30% contained as of Sunday evening.
The fire is burning on Nevada Test and Training Range withdrawn lands and BLM lands within the BLM Ely District.
Hand crews continued mopping up and strengthening containment lines along the northern flank. All lines held through afternoon wind conditions.

No evacuations are in effect. Highway 375 may be impacted by smoke, but no closures are currently planned. The community of Rachel, Nevada, may experience smoke but is not threatened.
Hot temperatures, single-digit humidity, and south to southwest wind gusts up to 20 mph are expected through the coming week. Completed containment lines are expected to limit additional fire spread. Incident managers may begin planning a gradual demobilization of resources later this week if fire activity continues to decrease.
The fire was caused by lightning and is burning in pinyon/juniper timber and grass.
