LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A weekend traffic stop turned into an arrest after troopers say a driver was caught flying down a Nevada freeway at near double the speed limit.
Nevada State Police say a trooper stopped a white BMW X5 on northbound I-15 near Sloan after clocking it at about 130 mph in a 70 mph zone. The driver would later be arrested on charges including speeding and reckless driving.

Officials stressed that freeways are not racetracks and that extreme speeds put both the driver and others at risk.
They add that excessive speed and impaired driving remain leading factors in deadly crashes, and troopers will continue high-visibility enforcement to help prevent traffic deaths.
