LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The American Red Cross and Metallica are launching a new blood donation experience in Las Vegas, according to a news release from the Red Cross.
The Red Cross X Metallica Blood Donation Experience, sponsored by Delta Air Lines, opens Sept. 28 at Fashion Show Las Vegas on the Las Vegas Strip, the release said. The pop-up center is timed to the band’s upcoming Las Vegas residency and is organized with Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands.

The immersive experience gives donors a sense of what it’s like backstage at a show, according to the release. It includes the opportunity to sit at a replica drum set similar to the one used by Lars Ulrich, a founding member of Metallica.
Donors will receive a limited-edition T-shirt designed by Squindo while supplies last, the release said. All donors will also be automatically entered for a chance to win a replica drum kit built by TAMA, similar to the one made for Ulrich for Metallica’s WorldWired Tour.
Donors can enjoy refreshments after donating at the Delta Backstage Lounge, according to the release.
“The Metallica Family has shown time and again how strongly they support blood donation,” said Rachel Flanigan, executive director of the American Red Cross Southern Nevada Chapter. “Bringing this experience to Las Vegas gives fans a new way to connect with the band while helping provide blood for patients who depend on it.”
How to donate
The release said all blood types are needed to maintain supply for patients. Donors need a blood donor card, driver’s license or two other forms of identification at check-in. Individuals who are 17 in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate. High school students and other donors 18 and younger must also meet certain height and weight requirements, according to the release.
Donors can use RapidPass to complete pre-donation reading and health history questionnaires online before arriving at a blood drive, the release said.
The donation site is located at 3200 Las Vegas Blvd. S in Las Vegas and will run from Sept. 28, 2026 through March 19, 2027, the release said. Through mid-November, the center will be open Monday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m. A schedule for mid-November through March will follow, according to the release.
