WASHINGTON, D.C. (FOX5) — Station Casinos employees joined Senators Catherine Cortez Masto and Cory Booker on Capitol Hill, calling on the Senate to pass a bill that would speed up union contract negotiations.
The Faster Labor Contracts Act would require employers to start bargaining within 10 days of a union’s request.
If there is no agreement after 90 days, the bill would require federal mediation, followed by arbitration if mediation fails.
Culinary Union leaders say Station Casinos workers have been waiting years for a first contract.

“Having a union contract at Station Casinos gives you, you can take care of your families a better life, a better pension, and everything that goes in that contract,” a worker said.
The House passed the Faster Labor Contracts Act in June. The Senate bill is now awaiting action.
In a statement to FOX5, a Station Casinos spokesperson said the legislation “is another attempt by the Culinary Union to suppress the will of American workers, including our Team Members, by eliminating free and closed ballot elections, undermining good-faith negotiation, and inserting the government to write union contracts.”
Station Casinos also recently awarded $70 million in stock to its 10,000 full- and part-time team members as the company marks its 50th anniversary.
