LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Local leaders broke ground Wednesday on a multi-phase trail expansion project designed to expand recreational access in North Las Vegas.
Construction crews will construct an additional 2.7 miles along the Interstate 215 Northern Beltway Trail as part of the initiative.

The initial phase will stretch parallel to the freeway from North Decatur Boulevard to Clayton Street, with project completion anticipated in late 2027.
Subsequent work will be divided into two additional segments: the second phase will construct 1.8 miles from Clayton Street to North 5th Street, and the final phase will add 1.25 miles extending from North 5th Street to Losee Road.
City leaders noted that the project encompasses more than paved pathways, incorporating dedicated lighting, landscaping and navigational signage throughout the corridor.
Once fully constructed, the trail network is planned to span approximately 45 miles, creating a continuous regional connection between North Las Vegas and Henderson.
