LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Volunteers are canvassing the streets, searching for dozens of missing children whose cases have gone cold, as a part of Nevada Child Seekers “Super Search.”

Friday, Nevada Child Seekers Executive Director Margarita Edwards says volunteers are focusing on Boulder Highway, the strip, and Fremont Street.

They went business to business, passing out flyers with pictures of missing children, and details about when they went missing.

One volunteer says they’re engaging with as many people as they can along the way.

“Everybody will see probably one hundred or so people in a day, so if they can familiarize themselves with these kids’ faces then maybe they’ll be able to call in and give us a tip,” volunteer Chandra Stepanovich says.

Edwards says the ‘Super Search’ focuses on 30 of their cases without viable leads. She’s hoping the burst of awareness will generate new tips, and so far it’s working.

As of Friday mid-day, 12 children had already returned home.

“A lot of times, these kids don’t feel like anybody does cares, so the fact that they see this effort, or they even see their own photo in a flyer, and they go, ‘oh my gosh, my mom really does care, I’m not in trouble,’” Edwards says.

The search will continue Saturday. Volunteers will spread out to all different areas in the Las Vegas Valley.

Edwards says by the end of the weekend, she’s hoping all 30 families will have answers.
