LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Police have arrested a 76-year-old man in connection with a recent death, online records show.
Orvil Grimes was arrested Wednesday in connection with the September 1 homicide near Eastern and Charleston, according to online booking records.

Police say officers found an unresponsive man in a parking lot at the 1200 block of South Eastern Avenue, where he was pronounced dead. Medical personnel later determined he had been shot after initially suspecting natural causes.
According to the arrest report, investigators reviewed nearby security footage that captured a gunshot just moments after the suspect walked into the parking lot. The suspect was seen wearing a long-sleeved white T-shirt, light shorts, and a tan sun hat with a distinct American flag design on the underside of the brim.
The following day, a detective conducting follow-up at the scene spotted a man, Grimes, who matched the suspect’s physical description while wearing different clothes.
Plainclothes detectives placed Grimes under surveillance and watched him carry a white bag out of his apartment and drive his blue Chrysler to a nearby 7-Eleven. After watching him toss the bag into a dumpster, officers pulled Grimes over and arrested him.
In the arrest report, police say Grimes reportedly changed his story multiple times, eventually invoking his right to counsel. Before booking, he made unprovoked statements claiming he “is not a violent man, but he was pushed to his limit” and that police would find nothing in his apartment or car.
Court records show Grimes appeared in court Thursday morning and is being held without bail on an open murder with a deadly weapon charge.
