LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A legendary group made another magical Las Vegas moment on this day in history.

On Aug. 21, 1974, the Jackson 5 debuted a “Las Vegas Revue” at the MGM Grand. Part of the group’s first world tour, the revue was the brainchild of Joe Jackson, father of the band’s members.

The show took the tone of a nightclub act rather than a concert. It wasn’t dubbed a residency, but the family spent two weeks performing the revue at the MGM Grand before moving on to other cities.

Notably, the revue marked the only time Michael Jackson performed shows in the entertainment capital of the world, although the King of Pop was long associated with the city. It was during this time that he became good friends with legendary tiger handlers Siegfried and Roy.
