LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Two children were hospitalized with critical injuries after a fire at a two-story apartment building in the east valley Sunday night.

Clark County Fire Department responded to the 2600 block of Nellis Boulevard at approximately 10:58 p.m. for a reported structure fire. The first crews to arrive encountered a two-story apartment building with heavy fire involving two apartment units and reports of multiple occupants trapped inside.

According to CCFD, firefighters began working to extinguish the fire while simultaneously conducting search-and-rescue operations. At approximately 11:16 p.m., crews confirmed that all occupants had been removed from the building and the fire had been knocked down.

The fire was contained to the two apartments originally involved, CCFD officials say.

Three patients were transported to local hospitals, including two children with critical injuries and one adult with a minor medical complaint.

No injuries to firefighters or public safety personnel were reported.

Resources assigned included two battalion chiefs, eight engine companies, two truck companies, two rescue units and one EMS captain.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
