LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Boring Company has confirmed a new expansion of the Vegas Loop is nearing completion and will extend the underground system farther south.
New stops planned
The company currently operates 14 Loop stations, using Tesla fleets to shuttle passengers underground. The system started at the Convention Center and has expanded to stops including Resorts World, Encore, Fontainebleau and Sahara.
Tunnels are now pushing toward Paradise Road. According to the Boring Company, new stops opening soon include Virgin Hotels and a site near Paradise and Tropicana, across from UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center.
Visitor and resident reaction
Some visitors said they didn’t realize the underground system was already running.
“This is right now?” one visitor said.
“That is wild,” a visitor said. “Sounds like a self-driving car.”
Asked how they felt about it, one visitor said, “I guess I’m processing in the moment.”

A resident said traffic in the area is heavy.
“Traffic is crazy out here, especially on the weekends,” the resident said.
Commuter and visitor experiences
Mario Albert, a Las Vegas resident, said he moved closer to the Strip because of traffic.
“From a commuter perspective, it was pretty bad, which caused me to move closer to the Strip so I could get to work a lot faster because it just was never on time,” Albert said. “So adding the Loop and other things, I think, would be good to get people around quicker around the city and get them to work on time.”
Kim Burr, a visitor from Salt Lake City, said her husband rode the Loop during a convention.
“He was down here for a convention, and he did do the Loop on the Tesla, and he loved it,” Burr said. “He said it was so cool and fun and exciting.”
Jonathan Zamora, a California resident, said he is not convinced about the expansion.
“To be honest with you, I don’t really care for it,” Zamora said. “Simply because I think that we’re, I feel like as a whole, we’re doing too much and it’s going to create further issues that we have not yet explored.”
Timeline
The expansion is expected to open in stages, eventually connecting the existing Loop system to Harry Reid International Airport.
The Boring Company said stops from Paradise Road to the Westgate and Virgin Hotels should be completed soon, with hopes of finishing before November’s Formula 1 race, though the company cautioned schedules could still shift.
The Boring Company has not released an estimated completion date for the future connection to Harry Reid International Airport.
