LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said a school was on lockdown after a suspect barricaded themselves in a vehicle near the school.

LVMPD said the incident began around 7:46 a.m. in the area of S. Pecos Road and Rosario Circle, just north of Desert Inn Road. According to police, a suspect involved in a crash nearby left the scene of the crash. Police located the suspect and attempted to get him out of the vehicle, but he barricaded himself.

Police said the suspect was contained but because the incident was happening outside of Beckley Elementary School, the school was placed on lockdown.

Clark County School District Police didn’t immediately respond after a request for more information.
