LAS VEGAS, Nev. (CONSUMER REPORTS) – Big bargains are on the way as retailers compete on price for your holiday shopping dollars. Consumer Reports breaks down the discounts you can expect to see and the best time to make your big purchases.
As the holiday shopping season ramps up, this is a great month for serious savings. Consumer Reports tracks price trends to see when you can expect the best deals.
With Black Friday at the end of the month, November is a great time to shop and save.
CR is already seeing discounts start, and they will be spread out throughout the month.
Look for savings on countertop kitchen appliances, like toaster ovens, coffee makers, and air fryers, that can make great gifts.
But CR says, don’t limit yourself to shopping at just one store. Make sure that you’re checking all the different retailers for pricing. Certain retailers may offer better shipping times or costs, or features like in-store pickup, that might make them more appealing than other retailers. Major appliances see major savings too, including refrigerators, ovens, washers and dryers.
And, while Black Friday often brings the very lowest prices, CR says you shouldn’t feel pressured to do all your shopping in one day. You’ve got Cyber Monday coming up, and then Cyber Week really does continue into early December.
Expect big discounts on electronics such as televisions, of course, as well as giftable items like tablets, headphones, and even smartwatches and fitness trackers.
Plan your shopping list now so you can act fast when you see a good price. Big name brands like Apple, Bose, KitchenAid, and Dyson tend to sell out fast, so if you see a good deal, grab it while you can.
If you’re smart about your shopping, you can really make the most of your holiday budget – and find deals that will delight your loved ones this season.
As you make your purchases, pay close attention to return policies — especially for gifts. Many retailers extend the return period until January, but you should double-check before you buy just to be sure.
