LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The woman accused of crashing into a group of people at a bus stop, ultimately killing a man and teenager, appeared in a Clark County courtroom Thursday afternoon.
According to officers, Cynthia Phelps, 64, was driving along Boulder Highway Wednesday evening when her vehicle struck fixed objects eventually ramming into a bus shelter just south of Dalhart Street. The vehicle hit several pedestrians, projecting them onto the roadway, investigators determined.
Five people were hit, and two of them were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle showed signs of impairment, police said.
Phelps is facing six charges including two counts of DUI of alcohol and/or controlled or prohibited substance, resulting in death.
During the initial appearance, in justice court, the judge set her bail at $500,000.
Phelps will be back in court on April 23.
