LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Forever One Memorial has released new renderings of the project to honor the lives lost on 1 October.

The project is a permanent memorial meant to honor those killed and serve as a place of healing for those impacted.

Officials say the project has reached about two-thirds of its funding goals, and they’re working to keep that momentum going.

At a virtual town hall today, officials announced a day of awareness set for May 7. They’re seeking volunteers to help visualize the complete memorial and connect the community.

“We intend to have an individual stand where each of the candles will be placed, holding in honor each of the 58. And we’re going to talk about the ways that sharing the stories of the 58 have been integrated into other educational outreach and programming,” said Alex Bybee of the Forever One Memorial.

The first phase of the memorial is set to open by Oct. 1 of next year to mark 10 years since 1 October.

The public can still get involved by donating or buying a paver to engrave a message on the memorial’s Path of Remembrance. For more information, click here. To sign up for the May 7 day of awareness volunteering opportunities, click here.
