LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A $12.9 million federally funded preservation project will bring traffic restrictions through the new year.
The project, which includes work on Sunset Road, began Sunday and is scheduled to continue until spring 2026.
“The project includes milling and paving Sunset Road as well as lowering utilities, removing and replacing median islands, and upgrading striping and electrical items,” a Nevada Department of Transportation release said.
Work will take place on Sunset Road between Las Vegas Boulevard and Annie Oakley Drive. Nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Oct. 10, Sunset Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Additionally, side street left-turn lanes will be closed.
During daytime hours, officials say speeds will be reduced to 35 mph in the work zones, although multiple lanes will be open in each direction.
Commuters are asked to use caution in work zones and take alternate detour routes if possible.
