LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Mirage is seeking approval for a 3-year temporary closure of its business and gaming operations.
FOX5 obtained a letter from the Mirage directed to the Clark County Business License Department. The casino and resort is seeking the closure as construction for the new Hard Rock brand will take about three years to complete.
“The number of employees for the resort/hotel/casino are expected to increase from 3,000 for the existing operation to 6,000 for the new Hard Rock branded establishment,” the letter says.
The Mirage closed July 17 to make way for a larger-than-life guitar by the Hard Rock.
The Mirage is also asking the Clark County Business License Department to approve two six-month extensions to the initial temporary closure.
The county commission is set to review the request on Aug. 20.
