LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – On June 20, 2024 at 6:35 a.m., the temperature was 79° at Reid International Airport. That was the last time the temperature officially dropped below 80° in Las Vegas.

Since Las Vegas weather records started in 1937, this is the longest stretch the city has stayed at or above the 80° mark. As of August 14th, we’re now at 55 days in a row without seeing a temperature below 80°.  This smashes the prior record of 33 days in 2020 when the temperature did not drop below 80° between July 4th and August 5th.

Summer 2024 is one for the record books. Here are some of the other heat records we have broken in Las Vegas this season.

  • The most days at or above 115°. 7 days in 2024. The old record was 5 days.
  • The most days at or above 110°. 35 days in 2024. The old record was 29 days.
  • All-time record high of 120° on July 7, 2024. This is now the highest temperature on record in Las Vegas. The old record was 117°.
  • The hottest June and July on record.
