LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Adding to his impressive list of honors heading toward kickoff, UNLV wide receiver Ricky White III was named to the preseason Associated Press All-America team on Monday.

White, who was on the AP’s second team, had previously been named preseason First Team All-America by College Football Network and Second team by The Sporting News, Athlon Sports, Phil Steele and Walter Camp. He also is a member of three official preseason watch lists: The Biletnikoff Award, Maxwell Player of the Year and Walter Camp Player of the Year.

White is college football’s leading returning receiver after finishing with a school-record 1,483 yards last fall. He tied the UNLV mark for receptions in a season with 88 and became the first Rebel ever to post five consecutive games with at least 100 receiving yards. In 2023, White was named First Team All-America by the Action Network, Second Team by the College Football Network and Third Team by Associated Press, becoming just the second UNLV WR to appear on an AP team in history and first since 1981.

Under the direction of 2023 Mountain West Coach of the Year Barry Odom, White and the Rebels will kick off their 57th season of football on August 31 by heading to Big 12 Conference member Houston at 4 p.m. PT on FS1 in the first of a school-record 11 national TV games. The home opener comes one week later when Utah Tech comes to Allegiant Stadium for a noon kickoff on September 7.
