LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Henderson City Council approved the construction of a $15 million early childhood education center.
The center is expected to be nearly 15,000 square feet, with about nine classrooms to house 180 preschoolers. It will also offer playgrounds and offices for occupants. The new building will be located at the Valley View Recreation Center.
The approval supports the City’s quality Education initiative, which works to expand access to high-quality preschool education.

“This is another exciting investment in our commitment to quality education in Henderson,” said Henderson Mayor Michelle Romero. “We know that 90% of a child’s brain development happens before kindergarten even begins,”
According to city officials, 40% of Henderson’s three—and four-year-olds are currently enrolled in a preschool program. The city is hopeful the project will increase that number.
“We also know that programs like these can really help families who may need more childcare options,” added Henderson Mayor Romero.
The construction is slated to finish in 2027.
