LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Adoption fees at the Henderson animal shelter may increase soon.

On Tuesday, the Henderson City Council heard a proposal for increased shelter fees and recommended that it be adopted as a city ordinance. The proposal noted that the changes were necessary due to increases in operational and supply costs, specifically those related to care and medical procedures.

The increases will impact adoption rates for cats and dogs under 30 pounds, return fees for impounded animals, euthanasia fees, and various licenses. According to a fee schedule provided to the council, most of these changes range from $5 to $100 increases.

While the council has recommended the proposal for adoption, the fee increases will not take effect until it is approved.
