LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Silver State Equality wrapped up its annual awards gala, honoring allies including Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley.
The Vanderpump Hotel hosted this year’s Silver State Equality Awards, an annual cocktail reception and ceremony put on by Nevada’s statewide LGBTQ+ civil rights group. Organizers said the event celebrates the community’s achievements and those advancing equality across the state.
This year’s honorees included Berkley, who received the Equality Ally Award, along with Nevada Independent founder and CEO Jon Ralston, who was recognized with the Equality Advocate Award.

“Well, I’m absolutely delighted to be here and receive the Silver State Equality Award,” Berkley said. “I love being the mayor of a very diverse city where everybody is valued and welcomed and celebrated for who they are and what they contribute to the community.”
Silver State Equality said money raised at the event will go toward year-round advocacy at the legislature and outreach in local communities as the organization continues pushing for policies that protect LGBTQ+ Nevadans.
