LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Against the Mountain West’s highest-scoring attack, the UNLV women’s soccer team kept the score close on Senior Night vs.

Utah State before ultimately falling, 1-0, at the final whistle Thursday at Peter Johann Memorial Field.

The Rebels’ (7-8-2) record in league play moves to 5-3-1, while USU (15-1-3) improves to 6-1-2 in MW competition.

After Utah State’s 22nd-minute goal, junior goalkeeper Hanne Breur and the Scarlet & Gray backline kept the Rebels within one score by holding the league’s highest scoring attack without another score in the final 78 minutes.

Together, they combined to make 17 Aggie shots miss their mark, while Breur made three saves.

In the second half, UNLV found a way to get behind the Aggie backline and create near-scoring chances.

Those opportunities came in the 77th minute on a breakaway that led to a shot by freshman Felicity Garcia and in the 64th minute when a wide open junior Mallie Ramirez received a pass in the box on a run that was ruled offside.

UP NEXT: The Rebels will travel for their final regular season road match at Boise State on Sunday at noon PT.
