LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Many people did not sign their mail-in ballot return envelope, or their signature does not match other signatures on file. If that’s the case, Clark County will work to contact individuals so their vote counts.

Clark County Election officials say in 2022, more than 7,000 votes did not count because election workers could not get a hold of people. Many voters didn’t provide an updated contact phone number or email.

“Make sure you have up-to-date contact information, so that when the county does put your ballot in the curing process, they can reach out to you over the telephone or a valid email address. And that you can have that opportunity to speak with them to verify that it is you as the voter voting that ballot,” said Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar.

FOX5 reached out to Clark County Election officials to ask what the public can do to make sure a signature is confirmed but didn’t hear back.

We then called 702-455 VOTE (8683) for information.

A representative said people may call the number if they have questions about the signature on their mail-in ballot. They also said if there’s an issue, some of the voter’s registration information will be confirmed.

The phone representative also said the county may have sent a letter or email advising them a signature needs to be verified.

The voter may see a bar code to scan, which will take them to the county’s signature cure website.

Voters may be asked to provide and upload some information. The phone representative also said a person can mail back a signature cure affidavit.

As of Friday morning, the Secretary of State’s Office says 12,188 ballots still need a signature cure in Clark County. Of those, 3,845 signatures have been successfully cured. That leaves 8,343 ballots that still need a signature cure.
