LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – One person is dead and another is injured after a south valley house fire sparked overnight.

Clark County Fire Department received initial reports of the structure fire around 12:47 a.m. on Saturday. Arriving units found smoke and flames emerging from a single-story, multi-family resident in the 9400 block of Las Vegas Boulevard.

Firefighters began working to extinguish the fire and protect the other units. At the same time, firefighters began searching the adjoining units for residents.

At one point, the home’s roof partially collapsed, though firefighters were able to enter after and continue their search.

A total of 14 residents were displaced and numerous pets were rescued. However, one person was confirmed dead at the scene, and another was transported to the hospital, where they are currently stable.

Damages are estimated to be around $500,000. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
