Bartender accused of hiding camera in Las Vegas tavern bathroom

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Las Vegas bartender is in jail after police say he put a camera in the women’s bathroom of a tavern.

Records show it happened at John Cutter Tavern in the west valley.

On April 17, an arrest report for Christopher Cohen said an 18-year-old girl had found the camera in the women’s bathroom. Police say she saw a black USB plugged under the sink.

“She noticed the USB drive was shiny and removed it, and saw it had a sim card in the back of the USB,” the report said. “Which led her to believe it was a camera or recording device.”

The 18-year-old would unplug the device and take it to the police station. Police examined the device and saw an image of a man that looked like Cohen placing the camera in the tavern bathroom.

“The camera placed in the bathroom by a white male appears to be Cohen,” the report said. “This is consistent to be the location victim indicated she found the hidden camera inside the women’s bathroom. ”

Cohen is not only in jail for placing the camera in the tavern’s bathroom, but for other crimes that have nothing to do with the bar.

Records show Cohen is facing the following charges:

  • 2 counts of child pornography
  • 3 counts of capturing the image of a private area without consent.

He did have a drug charge which was dropped.

The arrest report said, “detectives also identified two additional victims that the hidden camera had captured while the women were using the bathroom.”

All three incidents occurred on April 17. Tuesday, Cohen is still behind bars and is ordered to not have any contact with minors. He will be back in court June 26.

FOX5 also spoke to the owner of the tavern. They provided us the following statement:

The story of Chris Cohen’s situation is obviously now circulating.

We only know as much about the charges as what Metro has posted for public viewing. We do know there was a camera in our ladies restroom. We don’t know what’s on it nor how long it was there. This situation was handled swiftly by Metro and Chris was apprehended at his house and is currently in jail not only for placing the camera in John Cutter’s restroom, but for multiple crimes not affiliated with the John Cutter situation.

John Cutter is cooperating with the detectives. Every gaming bartender in the City of Las Vegas must be issued a sheriff’s card issued by the sheriffs department, indicating no felonies or criminal background. Ownership, management and staff are not under any investigation for any of the crimes perpetrated by this individual. John Cutter takes the matter very seriously and values the relationships we have built over 17 years as a local family establishment.

Our team is considered family with some working for JCs for nearly 15 years. We hope that the community will continue to support the JC family as it has in the past supporting a team of 50+ individuals and family’s while we manage the course.

For additional information we recommend contacting the Metropolitan Police Department as we only have access to the same information as everybody else.
