Bill takes one step forward to help Nevadans with “No Tax on Tips Act”

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Senate made a unanimous decision to eliminate federal income tax on tips.

U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen spoke on the Senate floor to push the No Tax on Tips Act forward on Tuesday.

Senator Rosen successfully passed the bipartisan bill without any pushback.

“‘No Tax On Tips’ was one of President Trump’s key promises to the American people, which he unveiled in my state of Nevada,“ said Jacky Rosen. ”And, I am not afraid to embrace a good idea, wherever it comes from.”

The bill would prevent the federal government from taxing employees’ tips.

Officials say Nevada is known to have the highest rate of tipped workers.

“We shouldn’t be forcing working families to choose between keeping their health care or keeping their tips, which is why we want this bipartisan bill on its own, not part of a harmful, extreme budget bill,” Rosen expressed.

The bipartisan legislation will move to the House to be considered.
