LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A woman was convicted in a Medicaid fraud scheme, state officials announced.

Officials said Ariell Olivia Dix, 38, will pay $7.5 million in restitution, costs and penalties as part of her sentencing for multiple felony charges, including submission of false claims; Medicaid fraud; obtaining and using personal identifying information of an older person for an unlawful purpose; and attempted racketeering.

It’s Dix’s second Medicaid fraud conviction in Nevada, having previously faced a fraud conviction in June 2020. Despite her addition to exclusion lists that would have prohibited her from enrolling as a provider after that conviction, she continued fraudulent activities using “straw owners” — individuals used to conceal her identity during operations, state officials said.

“Through these entities, Dix and her associates carried out a Medicaid fraud ring that deliberately submitted false claims, misrepresented qualifications, falsified service authorizations and exploited the personal identifying information of Medicaid recipients — many over the age of 60 — to defraud the program,” the release said.

Aaron D. Ford, Nevada’s attorney general, said Dix had brazenly exploited a program meant to care for vulnerable citizens.

“Such deliberate fraud is not only a betrayal of public trust and a theft from taxpayers, but it also strips resources from those in need,” Ford said. “My office has zero tolerance for Medicaid fraud and will relentlessly pursue and prosecute offenders to the fullest extent of the law.”

Dix is serving time in Arizona for Medicaid fraud and will be transferred to Nevada upon release in 2027 to serve her Nevada convictions.
