LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — FBI Las Vegas reported the results of a recent effort to curb violent crime in Las Vegas and across the country.

According to a social media post from the FBI’s Las Vegas field office, “Operation Summer Heat” resulted in 114 arrests. Those arrests, officials said, included fugitives, homicide suspects, armed robbers, gang members and other violent offenders.

Officials said 16 guns were recovered during the operation. Additionally, 15 drug seizures were reported.

Across the country, Operation Summer Heat led to 8,629 arrests, including more than 30 fugitives wanted for murder. Law enforcement also identified or located 1,053 child victims and confiscated 44,569 kilograms of cocaine, 421 kilograms of fentanyl and 2,281 weapons, according to the FBI’s post.

“We are not messing around,” said FBI Director Kash Patel. “Our No. 1 mission is crushing violent crime. If you hurt a child, we’re coming for you. If you jack a car, we’re coming for you. If you’re polluting our neighborhoods with deadly drugs, we’re coming for you.”

The “multi-pronged offensive to crush violent crime” ran from June 24 to Sept. 20.
