LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Fans like Charles Adams are reacting to the death of country music star Dolly Parton.
“You’re never prepared for the inevitable, somebody passing away like that.”
Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80. From her influence in music, TV and movies, pop culture, and even her philanthropic endeavors, fans at Stoney’s at Santa Fe Hotel and Casino say that the country superstar will be missed.
Fans reminisced about the music that influenced a whole genre.
“She was the queen of country music, like 9 to 5, Backwoods Barbie.”
“Jolene, who does not like that song?”
“I Will Always Love You.”

Charles Adams talked about how her music moves listeners on the dance floor.
“She was a renowned writer, and you can feel what she’s communicating to you as you’re dancing.”
Stoney’s DJ, Dominic Paturzo, says he grew up adoring Dolly Parton,
“When I got to work, I pulled it up on my phone, and it was real. She had passed, and I just remember the first thing I did was call my mom. Dolly Parton passed away today, and we were both just like beyond ourselves.”
Wendy Loo reflected on the country star’s big a nd loving personality.
“It’s so sad. She was just so caring and warm and helpful to anybody that she ever met. So she’s going to be missed for sure.”
Her influence in other spaces outside of music helped Charles to realize that her message of joy was for everyone.
“She didn’t just stay within the country circles. She went outside of the country circles. And I think that sends a message to people that, hey, you’re welcome here. Dolly, we love you. Thank you for your contributions to country music.”
