LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Jaimee Hannah gave birth to her second child one month ago, moved into her new home just weeks ago, and last night she cooked and packed more than 100 meals.
Hannah told FOX5 she was on a holiday mission to provide those less fortunate with a hot meal on Thanksgiving Day.
“I was driving down Owens, and I saw this man, he was like he would clean my windows for food,” Hannah said.
Hannah says the encounter reminded her just how far she’s come. She and her toddler were once living on the streets after leaving a difficult relationship. Now a mother of two, she recently gave birth and moved into her own home.
“I have been down that road before, I know how it feels, and I also know how it feels around holidays to not have a hot meal,” she said.
She used her furniture money to buy food, and inside of her North Las Vegas kitchen, she cooked and packed 100 turkey dinners with all the fixings.
“Green beans, turkey, and ham,” Hannah said, describing the meals.
On Thanksgiving Day, she walked the streets of North Las Vegas and handed each container out one by one.
“You hungry?” she asked people she encountered.
“If I were put back in my predicament that I was in before, maybe someone would do the same thing,” Hannah said.
Hannah said today inspired her, and she wants to continue to give food, hygiene products, and clothing, but says she needs help. She is asking her community to join her mission and to donate.
Those interested in supporting Hannah’s efforts can donate to her nonprofit organization, Ivory Nonprofit Organization.
